Lesson: Repentance

Gospel Principles, Lesson 18, Repentance was taught by Sabrina Tingey

President Spencer W. Kimball declared:

There is no royal road to repentance, no privileged path to forgiveness. Every man must follow the same course whether he be rich or poor, educated or untrained, tall or short, prince or pauper, king or commoner.

Repentance is a very personal process. Ponder these seven principles:

• We Must Recognize Our Sins 
• We Must Feel Sorrow for Our Sins
• We Must Forsake Our Sins
• We Must Confess Our Sins
• We Must Make Restitution
• We Must Forgive Others
• We Must Keep the Commandments of God

As we repent, the Atonement of Jesus Christ becomes fully effective in our lives, and the Lord forgives our sins. We become free from the bondage of our sins, and we find joy.
