School Supplies Donation

It's that time of year again - heat, humidity, ugly incidences of drive-by zucchini drop-offs, and back to school bargain. Even with the steep discounts, though, many local families find it hard to afford the school supplies their children need.

The Valley Forge 1st Ward has a wonderful tradition of helping neighbors and community meet back to school supply needs, and this year is no exception. Meghan Fulop is heading up our Back to School supplies donation drive, with some assistance from her mom Jill.

So when you are out at the sales, please remember to purchase a few extra supplies. Involve your family - have kids choose the donations. Even little ones can pitch in - when you cash out, ask for a paper grocery bag that the small fry can decorate, fill and put in the donation box near the chapel doors. Help them gain a new perspective on the experience of giving - that money used to buy a soda would provide 5 notebooks to someone in need; a candy bar, two boxes of crayons.
Students need the usual: notebooks, loose leaf paper, folders, pencils, pens, erasers, crayons, backpacks . . .
Here are some great bargains:
Staples: 17 cent notebooks and more
Target: 25 cent notebooks and more
5 Below and AC Moore - backpacks for $4.99
Look for the donation box near the chapel doors, and thank you for your generosity!
